Step One:SAFE AG Llano Estacado Region
SAFE AG will provide assistance and information to interested communities
and city leaders concerning toll free telephone access to their primary
trade area. This is a key to obtaining toll free calling between rural
schools and rural local governments. Each town in the SAFE AG region must
elect to receive toll free extended local calling to Lubbock, Amarillo,
Abilene, etc. and neighboring communities. Toll free access to Lubbock,
Amarillo, Abilene, etc. is the first step.
Aggregation of Purchasing Power
Since the issue of toll free calling has received such broad acceptance,
SAFE AG has been contacted by long distance telephone companies willing
to provide steeply discounted long distance services for everyone in a
community when sufficient calling volume is reached. Extensive discussions
have been conducted and a plan exists with a telephone company capable
of providing such services.
Community Revenue Sharing
SAFE AG negotiates the least expensive quality long distance service
for the region. SAFE AG communities can accurately claim that they spend
less on long distance telephone than anywhere in America. A community designated
entity then receives a percentage fee of monthly long distance company
revenue. This revenue amount is not a replacement of standard telephone
company franchise fees. SAFE AG revenue is in addition to franchise fees.
SAFE AG revenues are a shared portion of long distance telephone company
revenue. In return for revenue sharing the SAFE AG community conducts the
SAFE AG membership enrollment and maintains long distance calling volume
to insure volume discounts and revenue to share from high volume use.
